OCTA and Caltrans, together with the cities of Anaheim and Fullerton, broke ground on the SR-91 Westbound Lane Widening Project on May 1.
Third in a series of freeway improvement projects on the SR-91, it will add a four-mile westbound lane to a pivotal stretch between the SR-57 and I-5. OCTA and Caltrans have added 18 lanes miles to the SR-91 in Orange County since December 2010.
Most recently, OCTA and Caltrans marked the completion of the SR-91 Westbound and Eastbound Lane Addition Project, which boosted capacity and improved operations for commuter and commercial motorists heading to and from the communities of Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda and the county of Riverside.
The construction kick-off event was sponsored by Anaheim-based construction contractor C.C. Myers, Inc. OCTA Chairman Greg Winterbottom, Vice Chairman Shawn Nelson, and Directors Gail Eastman and Al Murray, along with OCTA CEO Darrell Johnson and Caltrans representative Lisa Ramsey, attended to recognize the importance and value of improving northern Orange County’s transportation system.
OCTA, Caltrans and local partners are also constructing the SR-57 Northbound Lane Project as well as the nearby OC Bridges Program.
These improvements, combined with the SR-91 Westbound and Eastbound Lane Addition project, represent more than $700 million in transportation investment.
