Early in June, OCTA CEO Darrell Johnson participated in a meeting with California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Director Toks Omishakin hosted by the Self-Help Counties Coalition (SHCC). SHCC hosts these meetings on a quarterly basis to stay informed about Caltrans’ ongoing activities. Discussion items at this meeting included an update on state budget proposals, priorities for federal surface transportation reauthorization and a potential infrastructure package.
The group also discussed the California State Transportation Agency’s Climate Action Plan for Transportation Infrastructure (CAPTI) and implementation of SB 743 (Chapter 386, Statutes of 2013) which changes how transportation impacts of projects are analyzed under the California Environmental Quality Act.
