OCTA CEO Darrell Johnson traveled this afternoon to Sacramento to testify in front of the Assembly Transportation Committee hearing on AB 401, introduced by Assemblyman Tom Daly, D-Anaheim. AB 401 is OCTA’s sponsor bill to allow for design-build procurement for the Interstate 405 Improvement Project.
After testimony was received, the committee voted 13-2 in favor of this legislation. Passage of AB 401 is the first step the bill must go through before ultimately going to Governor Jerry Brown, the next step in the following weeks will be at the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
The bill has received support from numerous groups, including the Professional Engineers in California Government, the Orange County Business Council, the Automobile Club of Southern California and the Association of California Cities – Orange County’s Legislative Committee.
